In ordinary life we hardly realize that we receive a great deal more than we give, and that it is only with gratitude that life becomes rich.
I’ve enjoyed being the staff editor for the California Veterinary Medical Association, Placer County Office of Education, and California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, where I created magazine layouts, researched, and prepared state Legislature reports.
I also wrote style guides for the county and state education systems, North American Baptist Conference, as well as for 8 authors who self-published books.
You’ll realize your dreams when your document is professionally edited, illustrated, designed and printed. If you’re at a place to consider this, please call me for an introductory, free consultation.
Three educational projects I created received national recognition; I share this honor with a Sacramento author and former state and county employers.
- 2012 ~ National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) award for a self-published book, Bridging the Achievement Gap . . . that I edited and designed for Dr. Rex Fortune.
- 2011 ~ Clarion Award from the Association for Women in Communications for the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office Style Guide that I researched, wrote and designed.
- 2009 ~ NSPRA also selected my art collaboration publication with children, Hope, Joy, Peace.

Congratulations upon winning the Clarion Award . . . As I often say, we not only need to do good work but also tell it well and effectively. Thank you for excellent work and dedication.

From the outset, it was apparent Phawnda was the best candidate for an editing contract in terms of her willingness to work collaboratively with us . . . listen . . . analyze our needs . . . create the layout. . . prepare the final for publication [locally and on Amazon]. . . She has been a joy to work with.

Bravo Phawnda! You are an amazing editor. I really appreciate how you are able to give my work a professional touch and still keep the original voice. You have just the right touch. I accepted all of your suggestions and will now submit these chapters to my committee with confidence. You’re the best!
